Incidents @ Imagine Andrews

Greetings Imagine Andrews Families,

I am writing to inform you about multiple incidents at Imagine Andrews.  Parents and students alerted school administrators this morning to a social media post that included a threat to the Imagine Andrews Public Charter School community.  After dismissal today, a second incident occurred when a bomb threat was posted on a social media site, specific to tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. After contacting the base emergency center, a team was deployed to the school, which included a bomb sniffing dog. After conducting a sweep of every room in the building, no bomb was found. The school was pronounced bomb free with 100% accuracy. We thank the base command and base personnel for helping to ensure the safety of our building, our children and staff.

The safety of our scholars is our top priority. Please discuss with your child how false threats disrupt the school day and cause anxiety and fear. Please share with your child the consequences associated with such behaviors, including suspension and expulsion.
Please use this incident as a teachable moment with your child. Take time to review the content on their cell phones, tablets and other electronic devices. Discuss the importance of using social media responsibly.

Please contact me at 301-350-6002 if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued partnership and assistance.

Sincerely,

H. Douglas Rice II, Principal

Update: Absence of Social Studies Teacher

Greetings Imagine Andrews Middle School Families,

It's a great day at Imagine Andrews. Many families have expressed concerns about the extended absence of Social Studies Teacher, Mr. Anderson. Mr. Anderson has been out for medical reasons and his time has been extended multiple times. We were not aware that his absense would extend to the point that it has. We are hoping for a speedy recovery and that he will return soon. As soon as we know more about his return, we will inform families. In his absence, the substitute is Dr. Crenshaw. Our plan is for her to be the substitute in that classroom until his return.

Thank you for your continuous support and partnering.

Picnic Style Lunch @ Imagine Andrews

On May 19, 2017, the scholars at Imagine Andrews will have a picnic style lunch on the side lawn (near Yuma Rd.). Scholars are encouraged to bring blankets to eat on as they sit in the grass area. Lunches will be served in picnic friendly packaging and the food will also be picnic friendly. If scholars pack their lunches, they also need to pack food that they can comfortably eat outside (i.e. cold sandwiches, chips and juice boxes).
